Washco Dems to Hold Ballot Nominating Convention for HD30

Sunday, July 11th, 2010
Start Date:
July 13, 2010 – 7:00pm9:00pm

The Washington County Democrats will hold a Ballot Nominating Convention on Tuesday, July 13, to replace State Rep. David Edwards in the general election as the Democratic candidate for House District 30.  It will be held at Portland Community College’s Willow Creek Center, 241 SW Edgeway Drive, Beaverton, room 306.  Registration begins at 7 p.m. with the convention starting at 7:35 p.m.  The convention will be chaired by Karen Packer, Chair of the Democratic Party of Washington County.

Parking is available on-site, and PCC Willow Creek is at the Willow Creek Transit Center stop on the MAX Blue Line.

Representative Edwards announced his withdrawal from the race, effective July 6, due to his wife’s poor health.  He said he will continue as a legislator for HD-30 through the end of his current term.  HD-30 is inside Washington County and runs along Highway 26.  It includes a portion of the City of Hillsboro.

Democratic Precinct Committee Persons (PCPs) from House District 30, whether elected or appointed, are eligible to serve as the delegates and vote to select Edward’s replacement in the legislative race.  All current Democratic PCP’s from House District 30 should attend the convention.  Eligible PCPs must be present to cast votes and may not designate a substitute. Contact party Chair Karen Packer for additional information about serving at the convention.
